Residents in Atimonan in Quezon province will have an alternative means of going around after the local government unit (LGU) received a new e-vehicle that will soon ply the roads of the municipality. Atimonan One Energy, Inc. (A1E) and e-Sakay, Inc. turned over a new electric jeepney (e-jeep) to the Atimonan LGU led by Mayor Rustico Mendoza. A ceremonial signing of the deed of donation for the project was held virtually on September 9.
The PhP1.07 Million e-jeep donated by A1E will provide an alternative and more efficient mode of transportation within the Atimonan town center when it starts operations this month.
It has a seating capacity of 16 passengers but in order to observe physical distancing, it will only accommodate eight passengers per trip. The vehicle is also equipped with acrylic dividers, two automatic alcohol ports, and eight blower fans.
The turnover of the new e-jeep is timely as the LGU continues its battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. The vehicl will be managed by the LGU moving forward and will support the transportation needs of the municipality.

Atimonan’s Mayor Mendoza expressed gratitude to MeralcoPowerGen (MGen) and A1E for continuously supporting the municipality.
“This is a big thing and a good step to show our kababayans the future of transportation,” Mayor Mendoza said during the virtual event.
“This is also part of our vision for Atimonan to be part of modernization efforts that are being done at the national level,” he added.
The e-jeep project is part of A1E’s commitment to build a sustainable, progressive, self-reliant and empowered community through the implementation of social development projects and programs in partnership with the LGU.
“This project is consistent with MGen and A1E’s core values and business strategy, which are aligned with One Meralco Group’s Sustainability Agenda that focuses on power, planet, people and prosperity,” said MGen President and CEO Rogelio L. Singson during the virtual turnover.
